To prepare this Shaker Pastry Recipe, first mix one quart of flour, one teaspoon of salt, one cup of fresh beef drippings, and one cup of cream, add water enough to make a dough. Roll out a bit of this mixture, spread with soft butter, sprinkle with flour, and roll up like jelly cake, cut off a portion, stand on end, heap on flour and roll out. This makes the flakes of the top crust. The lower crust is rolled out from the plain mixture.
